Sponsored content was launched on Instagram in the US earlier this year, and the UK is set to have it rolled out over the next few weeks.
Sponsored content provides organisations with great opportunities to gain exposure and produce targeted campaigns.
Instagram is arguably the most visual social network, so it will be interesting to see what content is shared, and the campaigns that run alongside.
Expect to see content that looks like this:
Notice the ‘Sponsored’ text in the top right-hand corner. That’s how you’ll distinguish between an average post and a paid advertisement.
But don’t worry, you’ll be able to hide ads that aren’t interesting to you. That has two benefits; Instagram can work with partners and advertisers to ensure that content complements the platform, and it should also lead to better targeted ads so that you only see things that are truly relevant and of interest to you.
